Hello and welcome to my Sandrail Site.
The type of rail that I am building is really more of a desert rail than a "sandrail".
A brief description is as follows: Approx. 16" travel front and rear, A-Arm front
suspension, 3" wider 5" longer than stock trailing arms, type 2 6 rib transmission,
and a ford 2.3L 190HP turbo Thunderbird engine. I am using all DOM .095 tubing for the frame.
1.5" for main frame, 1.25" for suspension and bracing, and
1" for bracing. The frame and front and rear suspension are all
being made from scratch. The frame is completely custom but the
overall design is like a class 1 race car.
I am not building a frame and then attaching the parts to it. What I am doing
is building a frame around the parts. Before I put together any part of the car
I buy the part that will go along with that part of the frame. This is why I
have almost $4,000 dollars into a car that is still setting on the table as I build it.
